On paper, the results weren’t great, but we will likely finish in a higher division than the start of the season (div 4), so there’s that I guess. We did have a very good start as a team in season 65, and season 66 was probably never going to be as good, but to keep the status quo as we work on establishing strong leadership in the team to carry us forward has been a box ticked.
The future is especially exciting to the team, as Ainscough’s training comes towards the end, with FR and maybe a little more TT anticipated out of him. Just shy of 115k in value, and only 23 years of age, he should serve us well as captain, and develop his experience in the role. Another likely candidate for captaincy was also hired late in the season, with Don Percy looking like a future star of climbing races, and possibly climbing/TT tours.
Decisions have been thought about, and should results continue to flow under Ainscough’s captaincy, SP Roulers will keep Percy on the team, and fully commit to our junior development squad, with Percy (hopefully) becoming our second success story.
Onwards to season 67.
